Long-time chgo. resident, born/raised in the city, then in the 'burbs.

Bailed water in the 60's. Bailed it in the 70's....in fact, haven't missed a decade yet.

But yeah - let's blame climate change....and while we're at it?

That Trump guy?? He oughta get some blame, too......just - BECAUSE.

“The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it.” ― Neil DeGrasse Tyson

Believe = religion

Think = opinion

Know = science

What I know.

What do you know that’s different?

Published (SubStack, X, MSN, Google, PaPundits, et, al.)

Peer reviewed (the world)

And undisputed (so far)

ISR ToA = 1,368 W/m^2.

From the Sun’s perspective Earth is a flat, discular, pin head.

To average that discular energy over a spherical surface divide by 4.

(disc = π r^2, sphere = 4 π r^2)

1,368/4=342.

(Not even close to how the Earth heats & cools + this is Fourier’s model which even Pierrehumbert says is no good.)

Deduct 30% albedo.

(Clouds, ice, snow created by GHE/water vapor.)

342*(1.0-0.3)=240.

Deduct 80 due to atmospheric absorption.

(If this were so ToA would be warmer than surface.)

Net/net of 160 arrives at surface.

Per LoT 1 160 is ALL!! that can leave.

17 sensible + 80 latent + 63 (by remaining diff) LWIR = 160

Balance is closed, done, over, fini, “Ttthhhat’s ALL folks!!”

So where does this second source of surface upwelling heat flow of 396 come from?

396 is the S-B BB calculation for any surface at 16 C, 289 K, that serves as the denominator of the emissivity ratio: 63/396=0.16.

It is a theoretical calculation.

It is not real.

It is a duplicate “extra.”

It violates LoT 1.

396 up – 2nd 63 LWIR (How convenient.) = 333 “back” from cold to hot w/o work violating LoT 2.

Not that it matters.

Erase the 396/333/63 GHE “extra” energy loop from the graphic and the balance holds true.

IR instruments do not measure power flux, they are calibrated to report a referenced temperature and infer power flux assuming the target is a BB. (Read the manual.)

16 C + BB = 396 & incorrect.

16 C + 0.16 = 63 & correct.

There is no GHE.

There is no GHG warming.

There is no CAGW,

The consensus is wrong – Aahhgain!!!

Disagree?

Bring science which is not appeals to authority, off topic esoteric Wiki handwavium and ad hominem gas lighting and insults.

I love these moronic lawsuits. Now instead of a narrative they can blabber on about endlessly, they will have to prove their "science". Just like Fauci's, theirs is pure BS. These guys never think 2 steps ahead and will help bring down the whole BS narrative when they can't prove anything in court. It takes a special kind of stupid to be a leftist politician.

"What do you think?"

I think that larceny is ubiquitous, Igor.

From individuals who cheat tradesmen and Ebay sellers, to tradesmen and Ebay sellers, from businesspeople that cheat their suppliers, customers and employees, to customers that cheat business local and corporate, all the way to government bureaucrats elected and unelected; liars, cheats and thieves abound.

Extorting money from multinational corporations via lawfare is no different. Antipathy toward the well-heeled, however understandable and often quite appropriate under many circumstances, means nothing in the context of honesty and good faith.

Maybe the oil companies ought to respond by not selling any oil products to Chicago.

You know, on the grounds Chicago don't want to be associated with the so-called 'climate change' causing oil.

If they hate oil that much, they should fix the problem by not giving them any.

I'm puzzled, if someone offered me the job of Mayor I would no thank you, so what does Brandon get out of this?

Very stupid. They will need proof, and they don't have any.

No matter what happens, it's because of climate change, which is caused by C02, which is caused by "dirty Fossil fuel, which big oil is responsible for, and btw, they have a lot of money which we desperately need because we are guilty of gross fiscal mismanagement and it's time for the golden goose, which is a big fattened target, to pay up. Let the pile on began. Attorneys, line up. There's money to be made off this revenue stream. Big Oil, there's a new generation of pirates on the horizon and if you think you'll be able to pay them off too for the "privilege" of operating, you've got another thing coming. Once a hole is blown into your hull, you'll be taking on water faster than you can say "Climate Change" except we'll all be sunk.

"It specifically cites the more than 700 deaths in the city during an oppressive four-day heatwave in the summer of 1995."....

And how many hundreds or thousands of lives were saved by air conditioning run from electricity probably run from local gas fired generators? And in the winter NYC heated by their steam system powered by gas, previously by coal? Sorry, am I just nit picking?

How did that African moron become mayor of what was once a fine city?

Umm ... What's air quality got to do with CO2? The Mayor is obviously an id10t.

I would caution against politicizing issues after building up a base of followers who signed up for your content based on mostly non-political content.

I think you make some good points about the silliness of suing for something that happened decades ago, and about the difficulty in proving that any given outcome is due to a problem as general and intractable as climate change.

That said, some of your article sounds as ludicrous to me as the images of Republican Senators throwing snowballs in the Senate chamber as their attempt to mock the concept of "global warming". "See? It's been a very cold winter...so much for global warming". Easy to relate to, but devoid of any understanding of any of the climate science which predicts increases in all types of extremes, including colder winters, as a consequence of climate change.

Also, your discussion of Chicago's problems in general is quite myopic and partisan, which I find to be very disappointing. You allude to Chicago's choice to be a sanctuary city as contributing to the increased influx of migrants, without bothering to mention how many of them have literally been transported there straight from Texas, often under false pretenses.

The timing of this is quite ironic, given that the Biden Administration and the Democrats finally agreed to a comprehensive (and remarkably bi-partisan) immigration bill that included most of what conservatives have been asking for for many years, only to see it die because an ex-president and presidential candidate decided that it would not help his election prospects if this problem actually started to get solved, especially by what could be interpreted as a win for Biden. Better to maintain status quo and allow migrants to enter the country essentially at will, and then use the fear of these "invaders" who are "poisoning the blood of Americans" to gain votes.

Here's what I think: I think Brandon Johnson needs money he doesn't have to fund visionary projects to move Chicago forward, like paying out reparations and standing up city run food stores.
