Perhaps he is offering something along the line of “concierge” medicine—that is to say he runs a “subscription” practice with a yearly fee. That’s what my doctor does. I may see him once a year, or every week, but he gets a yearly fee regardless. Now if this is the case, one could see how this would/could be subject to unprincipled “bribery”—little different than Hunter Biden selling his artwork at $100k a pop.

On the other hand, it is not unusual for physicians at our medical school to collect a few hundred thousand as teaching/research faculty and be allowed time off to also have a “private” practice on the side. The logic here is that it keeps them current in their specialty field. Total remuneration/earnings can exceed $1M per year for the smart ones.

But isn't it true that he hasn't seen patients for decades? Who would want to go to any doctor that out of touch?

I noticed that too. He is no longer a medical doctor he only holds the title.

Likewise those celebrity docs on TV.
