I think there is skullduggery going on. He has won the last two elections with unprecedented few votes. No other PM in history has been in power with a bit over 30% of the vote. The Cons had more votes than the Libs each time. Yet, somehow every single close riding ends up in Liberal hands. And we use voting machines. Talk to people. NO ONE likes him. No one. And I have three sons. Most of their cohort are left of course, although that is changing. Yet all their friends despise Justin. (For the record my sons are conservative. One is a little squishy with a bit of left leanings. He has a child though with another on the way. He is rapidly wising up. But his wife is African and hates the International left for what it did to Africa. And she likes Trump. ‘He is de Mon. We want a Mon running things.’)
The Canadian electoral systems is dysfunctional. Didn't Trudeau promise to fix that? He did in fact. But I guess he backed off when he found that it worked quite well for him. He convinces a bunch of people in some big city areas that he is the "man" and he wins a minority with about 30% of the vote while everyone else hates him and votes for someone else. Then he bribes the dysfunctional third party to get its support so he can govern as if he has a majority. But it's wearing thing. The Cons have a good leader now and he seems to have the support of more younger people, which was never the case with past Con leaders. I predict that Trudeau et al crashes hard next election. Then we can start fixing the damage.
Oh Truedope 'fixed' the election system, alright. Which is why I can only pray you are correct and he gets booted out because the Cons are elected to a majority government next time around despite his tinkering. But we have proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the majority of Canadians are gutless, brainwashed, narrative-eating sheep and a (literally) bought media so I remain high skeptical. As to Poilievre, he is better than Trudeau, yes, and I'll vote for him, but he has been a disappointment to many conservative voters because he has become the typical half baked conservative who rather than stand firmly on the side of conservative values, straddles the line thinking he'll pick up votes from both sides that way when in fact all he really does is expose that between his legs he has liberal sized balls. ( eg he claims he is all about freedom but stayed mum on Emergencies Act Inquiry)
While PP seems to say the right things, I remain skeptical of the Cons still largely being a squishy, mushy group of CINOs.
If PP gets elected, he needs to terminate the CBC and all media propaganda funding first, cancel carbon taxes, and promote the O&G industry, returning it to its necessary, needed and favoured status. That would demonstrate they are dead serious about destroying the Trudeau legacy and turning this country around from its current destructive path
I think we have to go with PP to ensure we are rid of the JT-Jag destructive duo. I'm always skeptical but have a better feeling about PP than anyone else in a long time. As for terminating the CBC, he's said he will defund so I guess terminate is what he means. It will create a big ruckus but that's probably what we need. He has also said he will can the carbon tax. All this climate change stuff seems to be no more than virtue signaling and he seems to see through that. As for turning the country around, the sooner the better. It will take some time to repair the JT damage but it can be done.
As we have seen with Covid, even Con leaders were not trustworthy, Exhibit 1, Kenney, Exhibit2 Drug Fraud. So, we should never put our faith in political leaders to be what we want them to be, because THEY are most important to themselves. Not us, not the public, but them, the career politicians. Like I said, PP says all the right things, but my radar says "scripted", though he has shown that he is quick on his feet with a sharp tongue. Yes, he is the best shot at dumping the Pink HItler/Meethead duo, but, words are important. Defund does not equal Terminate, and politicians are famous for using weasel words
If you have someone better in mind let us know. I actually think defund does mean terminate, at least practically speaking. Unless it's only partially defund or something.
I think some of PP's predecessors were worse "straddlers". For example, PP has come out firmly against the carbon tax while his immediate predecessor "straddled". He keeps quiet on some things which I see as keeping his powder dry. There is a time for everything and perhaps a time to not unnecessarily stir up the pussies. Anyway, no one is perfect but some are far better than others and I'd say that for PP. I don't think we can do much worse that JT.
To your point, was there ever a bigger tool than O'Toole himself? Good grief. And he still won't shut up even now, going on about his disdain for F**k Trudeau flags. A serious lack of introspection there. (Have you ever wondered if carrying Trudeau's water got you to where you are now, Erin- that being the outside looking in? No? I didn't think so. )
Hope you're right and that PP comes out swinging if he's elected. I will certainly vote for him and hope. While hope isn't a strategy, getting devil incarnate Trudeau gone is priority #1.
I tell my husband this all the time. These are the people we really need to be afraid of, 'the band' as I referred to them. So he and I are ready to jump in the life boats but our problem is where to we row to that's appreciably better?
The boy Castreau is a problem, but the cretinous imbeciles who keep voting him in are a bigger one.

I think O'Toole is a nice guy. But he might be proving that nice guys finish last.
I think PP will be swinging hard.
Hope is good and convincing a few others helps too.
Cheers!

Just like the mystified in New York State keep voting for Cuomos
