An account can be anonymous (not display a real name) and be human-confirmed.

The first step to this is asking for a non-VOIP phone number

Google started requiring phone numbers for email accounts. I am not as well versed on all the work-arounds on isp#s as well as how to get a phone number without getting a burner phone. Before that you could create all types of Gmail accounts as I and many others did for fun. I assume that has gotten a lot harder. Same thing was true of "Topix", available all over the place with little restriction on posts.

Interesting . Here in Australia , once free to speak , the reaction to many big protests over lockdowns saw Nth Korea style arrests , violence from police , tear gas , arrested a pregnant women at 7.30

Pm early Covid , why. ? For planning a rally in my city ? Her husband filmed it ! She was a middle class , highly educated. , non conspiracy normal housewife with no criminal intent , Arrested because she had a Facebook page for planned protest !! 7 mnths pregnant , in dressing gown , handcuffed ??? I think sometimes , I spoke loudly i Twitter about what I deem ABUSE of Novak Djokovic , I said I would testify for him if he sued my country ( then. I thought ) Scott , idiot leader will have me silenced ! That’s how draconian and evil my countries policies / lies / mandates / treatment of those who speak truth are treated . I feel like I am in communism

The way the governments, corporations, schools, etc. have stolen peoples lives by demanding them to be jabbed to continue those lives is the most evil part. --- You are not crazy. I understand why you cry and fear for your daughter. I'm sorry you have to go through this. None of it is right or moral. God bless you and your family. Try and keep faith that things will work out for the good of all involved. It can give you a modicum of peace.

Thank you as I can’t talk to many except some of the freedom fighters we have here in Australia . I will get more involved I think . I was born to never be brainwashed , to be a black sheep , not part of the herd , I have always been a critical thinker ? Hand up in. Science asking questions . And at Sunday School . I owe it to my county my dad loved , to all in the world to keep my thoughts passionate , and not be afraid of my government ! My dad would say , die for freedom Mez , I speak well also and write . I need to get a journalist ,to publish my thoughts on lockdowns. , Pyschology , schooling etc

Yes, we in Australia are being treated abominably, it's almost unbelievable what has happened, and how much and how many people accept all the lies, and clamour for harsh restrictions.

I watched in shock , alone , in pain . And even if not alone , I never condoned lockdowns , for the reasons that are stated in Great Barrington Declaration , signed by thousands of doctors , written by three stand out professors , Fauci called them all sorts of names , they were deleted from. , all platforms ! I will post it here okay . A video of one of the doctors involved ! Look after the elderly like I said !

Praying for peace in my soul . I have been hugely affected , pain , mental health etc

what those " fringe epidemiologists" (according to Fauci/ Collins), from Oxford, Stanford and Harvard... hmmm they obviously should be silenced then, they'd have nothing to contribute being at the top of their respective fields in public health and medicine....

I truly understand, millions of us have lost years off our lives, have broken relationships, lost loved ones. The psychological damage has been great. But I will never give in. They will have to inject my dead body. I never expected the last years of my life to end up like this. Especially in the United States of America. We all have evil, crazy lunatics running our countries.

You should have held on to those guns. Being liberal and anti gun always causes a lot of suffering. Same in all totalitarian states. Before they take your rights, they take your weapons. Liberal do-gooders and social justice warriors never learn. Same in New Zealand.

Yes, you guys and the New Zealanders, showed just how quickly a country go from freedom to full blown malevolent dictatorship.

If you were once free to speak, but now you no longer have that right, you really didn't own that right. A right, such as free speech, must be unassailable. The second amendment (the right to bear arms) is critical to ensure that this right will not be infringed upon. But Aussies, along with many others, laughed at the US obsession with firearms. Only now do they understand why an armed citizenry is vital to a free country.

When the right to weapons is removed; it's a simple matter to know TYRANNY is to follow. FREEDOM ONLY SURVIVES HUMAN EVIL WHEN IT'S BACKED BY THE THREAT OF VIOLENCE WITH WEAPONS AS TOOLS OF SELF DEFENCE AND THE COURAGE AND CORRECT JUDGEMENT TO USE THEM.

Google keeps asking me for a phone number for my gmail account. I just keep declining to give it.

Oh, and the number they keep asking for is for a mobile phone. Is that to track my location?

Protonmail is free (free option ) and doesn’t ask for a phone no. There are others too.

Google's requiring phone numbers is ***selective***. I have had a GMail account for over 10 years. I have the same verification email for over 10 years. I verified with a Google-produced code sent to the verification email. Even though it verifies successfully, Google will still not let me in. Google would not accept a "burner" phone number, they want a Telecom provider phone number. Alas... during this same week Google locked me out, I set up a new Google account for my neighbor on her computer, and Google did NOT ask for any kind of phone number when her account was successfully created (and later used.) Why? She has no blocking privacy type of protection on her computer. Tag away. For sure they already know who she is and all about her. Google is ***selective*** and ***discriminatory*** in their verification practices. Good thing I had nothing in that Gmail account, I just keep it because I used it at one time and don't want someone else taking it over, so no nefarious activity could be blamed for their actions.

I'm not sure which side of the argument you are taking. I would not agree that an account is anonymous if a non-VoIP phone number is required. Even if not displayed, the phone number is clear identifying information which will be stored and will certainly be accessible by governments, and in practice any sufficiently powerful actor who wants it.
