They were communist revolutionaries blowing up things and creating general mayhem to protest the Vietnam War. They were infiltrated by the FBI and it was discovered if they had continued to gain power, their goal was to place into concentration/re-education camps upwards of 25 million Americans who did not go along with the collectivist worldview.
