The way I am understanding your conversation, you excuse the people ( your relatives at least ) for their selfish bad behavior towards others, he does not.
I'm not excusing anybody, and you're not required to read any more than you wish of what I say. This is a social media site. It's not like sitting in a living room having a conversation. Some of these things we talk about are COMPLEX, not black & white, easy ideas that can be described and decided upon after a few sentences.
I've never said anyone guilty of a crime, or of being wicked, mean, and/or nasty, should be "excused." I've never said they shouldn't have consequences for their behavior. What I'm talking about is kind of complicated, and those who are spiritually awake understand what I'm saying. It's a little bit DEEP. If you need everything to be like 2 + 2 = 4, then it will probably go right over your head.
Let me make it as easy as I can: When people act like assholes, getting angry and punishing them out of anger usually doesn't work. They continue to act like assholes. It's better to find a way that shuts them down without YOU becoming an asshole yourself. THIS TAKE CREATIVITY and COMPASSION, not only for THEM, but for YOU and everyone else involved. It often takes many years to understand this concept, and I don't expect everyone to "get it."

I don't excuse their behaviors. Anger is justified. But forgiveness is based on need. Not deserts. I know I often need mercy.
