I’ve occasionally wondered if the “omicron is mild” line was an attempt to break the spell among the people who are still afraid to get back to life because of all the fear porn originally thrown at them. I agree with eugyppius that our dear leaders would like us to move on now. The whole Covid thing isn’t really working out for them as they had hoped.

The criminal leaders would love us to move on without them being investigated and punished. After all, Omicron is a perfect case of Vax Failure.
And "Mild Omicron that will end this pandemic" seems to be the perfect solution.
Except that Omicron is likely not very mild and very possibly will NOT end this pandemic.
The criminal leaders, of course, need to be investigated and prosecuted, but the virus is not asking for our opinion about its mildness, and will infect and kill as many people as its genes are set up to do.
Anyone hoping for a fairy tale ending to Covid, will likely be disappointed.
Are you kidding? These morons are riding covid for all it's worth, they don't want the emergency powers to ever end, and they don't want us to stop being afraid and direct our anger where it belongs. If "our dear leaders" wanted this to stop, they could pull the plug any time they want, just as Sweden did, and Govs Kemp, Abbott and DeSantis. They could, they won't.
There’s an argument to be made that they have lost control and it’s the frightened sheep who are keeping it going. You can’t just snap them out of their delusions in an instant. It may be incorrect but it’s an argument to be made
Exactly. Just think about the backlash if a governor of a big, democrat-voting US city removed all restrictions suddenly. "OMG the governor is trying to kill us all, impeach them immediately!" or whatever.
I don't think that's a real argument. The sheep can always be made to follow. Just say the vacx is iffy and you are trying to keep them "safe". Dems like big-state promises of safety.
While it's not impossible, it's also not easy to herd sheep. Do you genuinely think that enough people will just accept it if a governor turned around and became an "anti-vaxer" overnight, even if they gave good reasons and were trying to "protect" the people?
I think the media would smear them to their political death.
Yes. Sheep do not attack. The shepherd uses sheep's natural fear (for example, of dogs) to get them to go where he wants. We have chickens and the main way to round them up, if they are not absolutely starving, is to wave sticks around.
Fear.
Mattias Desmet has been getting lots of exposure to do with his "mass formation" ideas, which I think are fairly sound. He says there really is no 'antidote' to a fear-induced state; the masses can only be snapped out of it by being re-directed to a greater or more immediate fear… so maybe "fear of covid" could be countered by "fear of a totalitarian state" (in a best-case scenario).
Ok, that's a fair comment regarding herding of actual sheep. I would suggest though that the people already have something to be afraid of, and I think it's going to be pretty hard to retarget that, even if a politician wanted to. I would love it if people could be redirected from "fear of covid" to "fear of tyranny", I'm just doubtful that it could happen quickly on the basis of politicians' whim (as opposed to the "public mood" changing in its usual unpredictable way).

How much for Climate Change pivot? I am not sure, I think most people are fed to the back teeth with the Climate change song...

Fear of vaccine should be the goal
