Most people just have no idea how productive modern agricultural systems are, like 10-20X increase in productivity per acre. Check out Bangladesh on Google, with their inefficient agriculture, still mostly green space, lots of farms, lots of wilderness.
In spite of that, I still support Zero population growth, with the World population likely to peak @ 10B ~2070. Then dropping back down to ~8B and hopefully stabilizing at that point. I would consider that about ideal. Apart from space colonies, O'Neill cylinders in orbit or at the Earth-Sun Lagrange points, and the asteroids, Ceres and Mars. But that would be mostly an indigenous population if it grows into the billions.
The way to achieve that is with strong independent national governments with minimal migration of population. That means every nation state is responsible for their own population and if they are reckless about that then they will have starvation, a strong incentive to limit birthrate for each nation, which is best done with rapid industrialization, a proven success. Having some World Tyranny of Psychopath Parasite Malthusian Bankster creeps telling everyone what to do is not the path forward. That's a path to a Dystopian future.
